Thank you all for supporting the first ever fundraiser for Torch Literary Arts. In just one month, 106 generous donors gave $5,565 to creative writing programs for black women and girls. That's 111% of our $5,000 goal. With this funding, TORCH is able to provide the following 2016 fall programs:
~ Our first Wordy Girls event - a group reading of Toni Morrison'sThe Big Box with free books & activities
~ A weekend writing workshop in Austin, TX
~ The November TORCH Wildfire Reading Series featuring Arisa White and Shae Harris
~ The release of the 2016 Fall / Winter issue of TORCH, a special double feature celebrating 10 years of Torch Literary Arts with Breena Clarke (fiction) and Cheryl Clarke (poetry)
~ Payments for TORCH contributors and featured readers
~ Necessary organizational building to support the continued growth of Torch Literary Arts
Beyond the financial support, your donation is a tangible acknowledgement of the importance of showing up for black women and girls on and off the page. Thank you for helping us shine a bit brighter so we can see ourselves, share our stories, and create a warm literary community for the women and girls we serve.
