We seek to publish established and emerging Black women writers who take risks in their work to illuminate broad expressions of life and art in literature. Each issue features a Flame, an established writer, and her Spark, a lesser known writer who inspires them and speaks to generations to come. Featured writers include Colleen J. McElroy, Tayari Jones, Sharon Bridgforth, Crystal Wilkinson, Patricia Smith, Natasha Trethewey and many more.
