The Tingari-Silverton Foundation is an international foundation committed to honoring, nurturing and supporting innovators, entrepreneurs and organizations whose products, services or processes make the world a better place.
Torch Literary Arts is grateful for this grant to help fulfill our mission to create advancement opportunities for Black women writers. Funding will support the creation of a week-long retreat in Austin, TX where Black women writers will receive space and time to rest and write freely. Torch Literary Arts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit established to publish and promote creative writing by Black women. We publish contemporary writing by experienced and emerging writers alike. TORCH has featured work by Colleen J. McElroy, Tayari Jones, Sharon Bridgforth, Crystal Wilkinson, Patricia Smith, Natasha Trethewey, Elizabeth Alexander, and others. Programs include the Wildfire Reading Series, writing workshops, and retreats.
